About What We Sell What We Do Not Sell The Farm

About

Biddy Urban Farm sits on 6 acres in the middle of Columbus, Ohio. Our mission is to learn, develop and share sustainable food sources with our community.

Poultry

Our work began as a classroom project with Kate’s K/1 students, derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. What happened next can best be described as “chicken math.” Today, we care for a mixed flock of 40 layers, who keep us up to our ears in eggs.

Pollinators

In 2021, we began our adventure with beekeeping. What started with 1 hive has become 6, and our apiary continues to grow and thrive.

Plants

The fruits, vegetables, berries and herbs we grow are maintained without pesticides, and feed us throughout the year. They also feed a variety of wildlife, much to our chagrin.

Biddy Urban Farm

In 2023, we were recognized as a certified wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. By cultivating native species of plants and trees, we hope to support a diverse ecosystem and engage in our agricultural pursuits as sustainably as possible.

What We Sell

Eggs
$5.00 / Dozen
Our chickens enjoy a diet of organic feed, plants and bugs that they forage throughout the day. Our hens enjoy a free-range lifestyle, meaning the eggs they lay are ungraded, pasture-raised, and sometimes fertilized.
Honey
$5.00 / 5 oz, $14.00 / 14 oz
Our hives produce hundreds of pounds of honey each year. We harvest small batches, leaving most for the bees to use to survive Ohio’s unpredictable winters. The honey we offer is raw, unfiltered and sourced from the plants and trees surrounding our home.
Fruit Jam
$5.00 / 8 oz, $8.00 / 12 oz
Our jams and jellies are made seasonally with fruits, flowers and herbs that we grow and/or harvest ourselves.

What We Do Not Sell

Meat Chickens
Not For Sale
We do not raise meat-breed chickens, or sell chickens for meat.
Hatching Eggs
Not For Sale
At this time, we are not selling fertilized eggs for hatching.
Chicks
Straight Run / Not For Sale
Sometimes our broody hens hatch chicks. All of these have been “barnyard mixes” and have gone on to lay green and olive eggs. We do not currently have chicks available for purchase.
